A complete CAD suite. With AI built in.

aicad is a complete CAD suite that runs on your own computer: sketch, model, assemble, simulate, and design the electronics that go inside. Drive it with the mouse, a conversation, or both.

Runs on your computerSTEP · STL · 3MF · KiCadAny MCP agent
The application, filmed: a pocket weather station coming apart and back together. Three KiCad boards, a sculpted case, threaded hardware and cables, all in one model.
Electronics, end to end

Generate a whole device, not just a box around it.

Describe a gadget and your agent writes the schematic, routes each circuit board, builds the case around the real boards, chooses the screws and inserts, and runs the cables. The weather station above is one project: three boards, a sculpted case, hardware and three cables.

  • Real KiCad files. A schematic and a routed two-layer PCB that open in KiCad, checked with KiCad's own ERC and DRC.
  • The case grows around the boards. True outline, mounting holes and a datum on every footprint; posts, bosses and windows follow the case's variables.
  • Cables that know their pins. Pin to pin, a colour per core, clear of the solids in the way and to a minimum bend radius.

Through-hole parts and a simple two-layer autorouter for now: treat a generated board as a first draft for a person to review.

The suite

Everything a CAD suite should do.

Built on the OpenCascade kernel and its own constraint solver. Nothing on this page is a mock-up: the pictures and loops are captures of the application itself.

Sketch, constrain, follow the variables

Draw an outline once and dimension it with variables. Constraints solve live, and everything built on the sketch follows when a number changes. A flex check moves every input 10% both ways and reports what breaks.

Real parts, real standards

Screws, nuts, washers, inserts, bearings and O-rings from ISO, DIN, EN and ASME tables (27 screw types, 278 bearings, 3,007 O-ring sizes), drawn with their threads and placed with the hole they need.

Made for printing

Wall, overhang and orientation checks, print-aware fits, and a stress estimate for snaps and clips. Import a KiCad board or a STEP model so clearances are measured, not guessed.

History, drawings and export

Branches and merges work on variables, features, sketches and joints, not lines of text. Dimensioned drawing sheets, and export to STEP, STL, 3MF, DXF and GLB.

Motion and simulation

See it move before you print it.

Join parts with real joints, save a motion as an animation and check it for parts passing through each other. Run the assembly as rigid bodies under gravity and contact. These are estimates, and a test print has the last word.

AI, built in

Not a chat box on top of a drawing program.

Every operation is a typed tool, every edit says what it changed, and every error says what to change. You and the agent share one model, one selection and one undo history.

  • Nothing is guessed. Each edit reports its effect, and warns when it changed nothing.
  • You stay in charge. The agent narrates, shows a draft, and waits for your approval before the final checks.
  • Plain tools. MCP, HTTP or the command line: Claude, GPT, Gemini and local models all work.

Closed beta

Ask for access to the beta.

aicad is in closed beta and not open to the public yet. Tell us who you are and what you would like to build. A person reads every request and will get back to you about the beta version.

Hub log in is only for the hub.

The hub is where you share projects, add collaborators by username or email, and merge changes by design item. You only need a hub account to use it, and an approved request comes with one. aicad itself runs on your computer without any login.

Questions

Good to know.

How do I get the beta?

Ask above. Beta access is by approval, and a person reads every request. An approved request also comes with an account on the hub.

Do I need an account?

Not to use aicad: it runs on your own computer without one. A hub account is only for sharing projects and collaborating, and you log in with your username or your email.

Do I need an AI to use it?

No. Everything an agent can do is a command you can run yourself, and the viewer is built for hands first. The AI works in the same model you do when you want it.

What leaves my computer?

Nothing, until you push a project to the hub. A project is listed publicly only if both the project and your profile are set to public, and both start private.

How exact is the simulation?

It is a rigid-body simulation with contact: good for what moves, what touches and how far, not for strength, wear or fit. The stress study is an estimate from linear elasticity and typical printed-material numbers, and says so every time.
